    Simpler maintenance

Maintaining and servicing a Volkswagen electric vehicle is much simpler than its combustion engine counterpart.

    Less wear and tear

Fewer moving parts reduces the likelihood of mechanical issues, which means less repair or replacement of parts.

The heart of a Volkswagen electric vehicle is its battery. It’s made up of lithium-ion cells arranged in modules or packs. The more modules, the bigger the battery, the longer your range. When you charge, electricity flows into your battery and is stored in the lithium-ion cells as chemical energy. When you drive, the energy is converted back to electrical power which propels the vehicle.

Some extra protection, just in case

Volkswagen electric vehicle batteries are built to last, however, all batteries experience some level of wear and tear over time. For added peace of mind, both fully electric and hybrid vehicle batteries come with a warranty for up to 8 years or 100,000 miles from point of registration (whichever comes first), to ensure your battery retains 70% of its original capacity.

A different kind of service

Volkswagen electric vehicles have fewer moving parts than their petrol and diesel equivalents, which means less wear and tear overall. However, they still require specialised care. An electric service will focus on key components like the battery, electric motor, and charging cables, alongside standard safety inspections.

Some simple steps for a lasting electric performance. Here are our three top tips...

Tip 1

Optimise speed and energy use

Driving moderately helps to conserve battery, while using regenerative braking recovers energy during deceleration.

Tip 2

Maintain vehicle efficiency

Practices such as keeping tyres properly inflated, and pre-heating or cooling your van while it’s plugged in, save energy and improve overall efficiency.

Tip 3

Utilise in-vehicle technology

Make the most of tools such as We Charge, which finds your nearest charge stations, and EV Route Planner that plots journeys ensuring there’s always a charger when you need it.
